Belangrijke gebeurtenissen waren onder meer de Rugby World Cup in Frankrijk en het winnen van Spanje voor de eerste keer de FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australië. Individuen die de hoogten bereikten, waren onder meer Novak Djokovic, Max Verstappen die de F1 voor het derde opeenvolgende seizoen veroverde, rijzende wielerster Jonas Vingegaard, alpine koningin Mikaela Shiffrin, golfer Jon Rahm, basketbalster Lebron James en Manchester City die de UEFA Champions League won.
