Amid heightened tensions following North Korea’s unsuccessful satellite launch, a US B-52 strategic bomber engaged in joint exercises with South Korea on Friday, according to officials in Seoul, cited by Reuters.
The drills included the participation of US F-16 and F-15 fighters, which flew alongside the bomber, while South Korean F-35 and KF-16 jets also joined the training, as reported by the Ministry of National Defense in Seoul.
The recent military exercises, combined with the arrival of a US nuclear-powered cruise-missile submarine in South Korea after a nearly six-year absence, underscore the heightened frequency and intensity of US strategic asset deployments.
